Germany – BASF is expanding the production capacity of its polystyrene product Neopor at the Ludwigshafen site. This material is mostly used as a raw material in the production of insulation materials. The German chemical company plans to increase capacity by 50 thousand tons per year. It plans to start up the new facilities in early 2027.

With the expansion, BASF is responding to the growing demand for materials that will help improve the energy efficiency of buildings in the coming years. The EU wants the construction sector to be climate neutral by 2050. To achieve this, the energy efficiency of buildings must be greatly improved.
