Sweden – Shell is exiting the HySkies project it developed with Vattenfall and LanzaTech. The project to produce sustainable jet fuel in Sweden was announced in 2021.
Vattenfall says in a press release that it will look for new partners to continue the SAF project in Sweden’s Forsmark region. Shell thinks the project could have a future and does not rule out working together again at a later date. However, according to Vattenfall, Shell has a “different timeline” in mind for the development of the project.
Stopping the collaboration also affects the financial support the project received from the European Innovation Fund. In January, the HySkies project received a commitment for a contribution from that fund. Now the parties have asked to suspend the agreement with the EIF.
