France – The Normandy platform of TotalEnergies has begun producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
This new facility adds to the biojet fuel production capacities of the La Mède biorefinery (Bouches-du-Rhône) and the Oudalle plant (Seine-Maritime).
Production in France
This move allows TotalEnergies to meet customer demand while also complying with French legislation, which requires aircraft to use at least 1% SAF beginning January 1, 2022. TotalEnergies will also begin producing SAF in 2024 at its Grandpuits zero-crude platform southeast of Paris. All of the biojet fuel destined for French airports will be made from waste and residue, primarily from the circular economy.
