Scotland unveils world’s first floating offshore wind innovation center

United Kingdom – Scotland’s First Minister, the Rt Hon. Humza Yousaf MSP, inaugurated the world’s premier dedicated innovation hub for floating offshore wind.

The National Floating Wind Innovation Centre (FLOWIC), established in collaboration with ETZ Limited and backed by substantial funding from the Scottish Government and Innovate UK, marks a milestone in Scotland’s transition to sustainable energy solutions.

Granting success

With over 19GW of potential projects in the pipeline and projections estimating a staggering £43.5bn in UK gross value add (GVA) by 2050, the prospects for economic growth and job creation are compelling.

FLOWIC serves as a focal point for companies to develop and de-risk critical technologies essential for the success of the floating offshore wind sector.
