Sweden – Fortum is looking at the potential for a large-scale solar park in Havdhem, on the southern island of Gotland. There are 95 hectares in the area, and the installed capacity is thought to be around 90 MW.

Fortum is expanding its Nordic solar power portfolio in accordance with its plan. A solar park is now being built by the company near Havdhem, on the southern island of Gotland. The Alvret solar park will be Fortum’s first solar project in Sweden at an industrial size. The business is preparing an 80 MW solar energy project for Virolahti, Finland.

Putting park into service

In Sweden, obtaining a permission for a solar park takes one to three years, and after an investment decision has been made, building is anticipated to take one year. Due to the grid expansion necessary to connect the solar park to the local grid, it might take a few more years to put the solar park into service.
