The Netherlands – KBR has been granted a contract to offer engineering services for CrossWind, a joint venture (JV) between Shell and Dutch utility company Eneco.
KBR will design the baseload power hub (BLPH) for the Hollandse Kust (north) wind farm, which is located offshore in the Netherlands.
Storing hydrogen and power
KBR and Shell will design and build megawatt-scale facilities that combine lithium-ion battery storage and green hydrogen electrolysis production. During periods of high power output, the design will enable hydrogen production and electricity storage, while during periods of low power production, hydrogen will be converted to electricity using a fuel cell.
