United Kingdom – The Moray West offshore wind power project has given Siemens Gamesa the firm order for the delivery of 60 of its SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines.

Each of the 14.7 MW wind turbines will make use of the PowerBoost function. The order for the 882 MW project in Scotland’s Moray Firth includes a service agreement. All 180 Siemens Gamesa B108 IntegralBlades will be made at the company’s offshore blade factory in Hull, England, ensuring that the project has a strong British component. The first machines are expected to be installed in 2024, and first power is anticipated to be produced in that same year, according to a rapid deployment timeline.

Moray West debut

The Moray West project will be situated over 22 kilometers northeast of Scotland’s Moray Council coast. The SG 14-222 DD machines are scheduled to be installed as part of the project’s rapid deployment plan in 2024, when first power is anticipated to be generated. Thus, Siemens Gamesa’s enormous 14 MW machine will be installed in serial form for the first time at Moray West. For the Siemens Gamesa 14 MW machine, which includes rotor variants of 222 and 236 meters, more than 14 GW in firm orders, preferred supplier agreements, and preferred bidder agreements have been announced.

With rotor diameters of 222 meters and 108-meter-long Siemens Gamesa IntegralBlades, each SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbine will have a capacity increased to 14.7 megawatts. The first prototype of the enormous machine was introduced in 2020 and installed in Denmark in 2021.
