United Kingdom – The Shannon Foynes Port Company and Norwegian Offshore Wind have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to transform the Shannon Estuary into an international floating offshore wind hub.
Ireland will be able to meet long-term climate change targets while also becoming a major global renewable energy generator as a result of this.
Future market activities
The MoU will allow SFPC and offshore wind interests in Norway to collaborate, laying the groundwork for future market activities in both the Irish and Norwegian offshore wind markets. Furthermore, the agreement provides a platform for Irish and Norwegian businesses to engage in research, development, and innovation (RDI).
Norway is already a global leader in offshore wind, and its government announced last month that it will allocate sea areas to develop 30 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2040.
