Germany – Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and wpd have signed definitive agreements for GIP to acquire 100% of wpd offshore, wpd’s offshore wind business.
Regulatory approvals are required for the transaction. wpd offshore has developed 7 GW to date and has a presence in fourteen European and Asian markets. The wpd offshore team has expertise in greenfield development, engineering and design, procurement, financing, and construction management across the entire offshore wind value chain.
In Germany, France, and Taiwan, wpd offshore has interests in five operational and under construction projects. It also includes a global and highly diversified offshore wind pipeline with a capacity of 30 GW (gross) in various stages of development.
Following the closing, Achim Berge Olsen, the current COO of wpd and the company’s offshore wind business, will take over as CEO of the GIP-acquired company.
