Sweden – The Swedish government has approved the construction of Vattenfall’s Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm.
Kriegers Flak, located in the south of the Baltic Sea, is Vattenfall’s Swedish offshore wind project that has progressed the most. Vattenfall’s proposal includes 40 to 50 wind turbines with a total capacity of 640 MW. Annual production would be enough to charge one million electric cars or meet the needs of slightly more than half a million households.
Investment decision
The project has now taken a significant step forward thanks to the government’s approval. However, the wind farm’s completion is contingent on obtaining necessary permits and establishing a land-based electricity grid connection. Vattenfall is considering making an investment decision in 2025.
