France – Following the award of the Saint Nazaire load-out and installation contract, GE Renewable Energy has chosen Global Wind Service to handle half of the service and maintenance at the French offshore wind farm.
GWS teams will perform planned maintenance, such as brake-in and annual maintenance, as well as corrective maintenance tasks such as troubleshooting and unplanned service, during the Service and Maintenance tasks in 2022 and 2023.

The 480MW Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm in the Loire-Atlantique region will use 80 GE Haliade 160-6MW turbines made in France.
According to GE, each Haliade turbine can power 5,000 homes, and the project is expected to generate enough electricity to power 20% of the Loire-Atlantique. Turbines will be deployed over a 78-square-kilometer area between 12 and 20 kilometers off the coast of the Loire-Atlantique, at depths ranging from 12 to 25 meters.
GWS announced the launch of a new business unit in France to support the French wind market earlier this month.
