The Netherlands – By 2030, the Dutch government expects offshore wind power generation in the country to be two times as large as it is today.
It’s partly because three new areas in the North Sea have been designated for offshore wind farms.
Wind energy addition
According to the government, the offshore wind farms will produce an additional 10.7 GW of wind energy by 2030. With the addition of the five zones, the total capacity will rise to around 21 GW by 2030.
On-site wind energy capacity in the Netherlands is 2.5 GW at the time of writing. The government predicts that offshore wind energy will be the largest source of electricity by 2030.
