Italy – The Gestora de Servizi Energie (GSE), the Italian government’s auction house, awarded 39MW of wind power to EDP Renewables in the seventh auction.
There are six 6.5 MW turbines spread across the municipalities of Villarmosa and Petralia Sottana in Sicily, and the new wind farm will begin operating in 2023. The construction will begin this year and be completed by 2023, when it will be ready to be connected to the rest of the Italian network’s wind farms.
With a total of 385MW of operational capacity, EDPR operates in Italy. A total of 584 MW could be generated by the company’s 160 MW under construction and this new project.
To further demonstrate its commitment to leading the global energy transition, EDPR has set a 2025 goal of deploying around 20 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy through investments of approximately 19 billion euros. A goal that is part of the company’s strategic plan.
