Sweden OX2 has applied for a Natura 2000 permit for an offshore wind farm off the coast of Skane in the Swedish Exclusive Economic Zone.

Triton is a wind farm located about 30 kilometers south of Ystad. Up to 129 turbines with a maximum height of 370 meters will be installed at the offshore wind farm.

The County Administrative Board of Skne is in charge of OX2’s permit application, which includes an environmental impact assessment, or EIA.

The wind farm has a capacity of about 1 800 MW, and the estimated annual electricity production is around 7.5 TWh, which is equivalent to the output of a nuclear power reactor or 1.5 million households’ annual electricity consumption. The project will result in a reduction of about 4.5 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year. The project is part of OX2’s Swedish project development portfolio, which totaled 11.3 GW at the end of the third quarter.

OX2 had previously applied for a Natura 2000 permit as well as a permit to build the Galatea-Galene wind farm off the coast of Halland under the Act on Sweden’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
