Australia – Neoen’s Bulgana Green Power Hub in Stawell, Victoria, has achieved full-scale commercial operation.
A 204 MW wind farm with 56 turbines and a 20 MW / 34 MWh Tesla battery make up the hybrid power plant. It has the capacity to produce 750,000 MWh of clean energy per year, which is enough to power approximately 150,000 homes. Bulgana Green Power Hub is supported by a 15-year Support Agreement with the Victorian Government, and will help the state meet its Victorian Renewable Energy Target (VRET) of 50% by 2030.
Over 150 construction jobs and 5 full-time permanent jobs have been created as a result of the AU$350 million investment, giving the Wimmera region a significant economic boost. According to an independent economic impact report, the Power Hub is expected to generate annual benefits of $40.6 million for the Victorian economy now that it is operational. Neoen established a $120,000 Community Benefit Fund, which is administered by the Northern Grampians Shire Council, to support local community-building and sustainability initiatives.
Bulgana Green Power Hub joins Numurkah Solar Farm (128 MWp) and the Victorian Big Battery (300 MW / 450 MWh) in bringing Neoen’s operating Victorian portfolio to 652 MW across wind, solar, and battery storage technologies. Neoen is actively developing a pipeline of more than 2 GW of highly competitive projects across the State, with a combined capacity that would meet 10% of Victoria’s annual electricity demand, as the state’s energy transition picks up speed.
