Sweden wpd has signed an agreement with Nordex Group for the supply of wind turbines for the onshore project Stöllsäterberget in Sweden.

wpd europe will use eight N163/5.X turbines supplied by Nordex and will receive premium service for the turbines for a period of 15 years, with an option for a further five years, to power its 47 MW project.

As a result of the Stöllsäterberget project and the Aldermyrberget project (17 WTGs, 71.4 MW), wpd is expanding its position on the Swedish market. A number of additional projects in central and northern Sweden will be developed and connected to the grid by the company’s Swedish national subsidiary wpd Scandinavia AB in the coming years.

Between the regions of Dalarnas Län and Värmland, the project site is situated. In October 2021, preparatory work began on the wind farm access roads. Midway through 2023, the turbines are expected to be in place. Anti-icing systems for the rotor blades will be included in the cold-climate version, allowing the turbines to operate at temperatures as low as -30°C, resulting in increased annual energy production.

Microsoft has signed a “pay-as-produced” power purchase agreement (PPA) for the green electricity generated. wpd’s contribution to decarbonization in Northern Europe has been bolstered by the addition of Stöllsäterberget.
