Denmark – Siemens Gamesa has been given the go-ahead by Vattenfall to proceed with the 344 MW Vesterhav offshore wind projects, and will be able to deliver once more in Denmark.
Vester Nord will use 21 SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbines, and Vester Syd will use 20 SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbines for its 168 MW capacity. The two projects are expected to be completed in 2023, and are located up to 10 kilometers off Denmark’s west coast. About 350,000 average Danish households will benefit from their combined efforts. Additionally, a three-year service agreement with the Port of Hvide Sande is included.
Vester Nord’s 176 MW output will allow it to be located up to 8.5 kilometers offshore and cover an area of approximately 40 square kilometers. Offshore wind turbines with a capacity of 8.4 megawatts each will be installed at the Thyborn Port, which will host the commissioning of the 21 Siemens Gamesa turbines. During the year of 2023, the project is expected to be completed and the work will begin.
It is estimated that Vesterhav Syd, with its 168 megawatts of power, will occupy an area of about 37 square kilometers off the coast. 20 Siemens Gamesa offshore wind turbines with a total capacity of 8.4 MW will be installed at the Port of Hvide Sande, each with a diameter of 167 meters. The project is expected to be completed in 2023.
Siemens Gamesa and Vattenfall have a long history of working together, and their joint offshore wind pipeline has more than a few gigawatts of capacity.
