United Kingdom – Shell has inked a framework agreement with renewable energy producer Island Green Power to collaborate on the development of solar PV projects with co-located battery storage capacity, with an initial collaboration on over 700MW total generating capacity.
Shell has also collaborated with Clearstone Energy on the development of multiple utility-scale solar PV projects in the South-East of England. The Clearstone Energy projects have a combined export capacity of 100 MW and co-located storage capacity, allowing Shell to generate renewable energy close to customer demand. Both transactions would be subject to a final investment decision in the future.
Shell has established a global goal of being a zero-emissions energy company by 2050, in line with society. Increasing renewable energy generation will be critical to implementing the strategy and assisting the UK in attaining its net zero 2050 goal.
