Poland – ACCIONA has signed a five-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with the multinational automotive maker Brembo to partly compensate for the energy needs of its manufacturing plants in Poland and to contribute to the development of Brembo’s decarbonization and sustainability programs.
Virtual PPA would not need a physical supply of power to the customer. Instead, ACCIONA will pump 100 000 MWh of renewable energy each year into the grid and provide Brembo Poland with related guarantees of origin. The energy will originate from the 63MW Krobia I wind farm of ACCIONA in Wielkopolskie. The contract went live on 1 February 2021.
Trading price reinforcement
For ACCIONA, the VPPA with Brembo reinforces its trading pricing structure and reduces the company’s vulnerability to stock price fluctuations. In the case of Brembo, the deal helps the organization to optimize prices, access renewable energy and work against its carbon mitigation targets.
Brembo’s ambitious target is to become carbon free by 2040. This is part of the latest corporate strategy, ‘Turning Energy into Inspiration,’ which the company unveiled in 2020 and which seeks to deliver innovations for the automobile industry, ensuring high performance and low emissions, in order to ensure the best driving experience for end users.
