Belgium – Vopak has launched a market consultation for ammonia storage at the Vopak Energy Park Antwerp. The company wants to gauge market interest in ammonia storage and gain insight into customer demand. The market consultation is part of the pre-FEED study it plans to complete before the end of this year. If the market responds positively and the final investment decision is made, Vopak could start using the new facility from 2029.

According to Vopak, the site in Antwerp offers interesting opportunities for developments in the chemical industry and the hydrogen economy, including hydrogen carriers, ammonia storage and cracking. The company recently announced that A.P. Moller Holding plans to develop a new plant for the production of non-fossil plastics on its site.
