Germany – Lhyfe is set to make history with plans to produce a staggering 330 tons of green hydrogen per day in its Lubmin plant, marking one of the largest facilities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.

The targeted commissioning date for this ambitious project is 2029, aligning with Germany’s substantial investment in a core hydrogen pipeline network.

Germany, committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and decreasing reliance on imported fossil fuels, recently unveiled a €20 billion financing plan to develop a 9,700-kilometer-long hydrogen pipeline network by 2032. Lhyfe, as part of its backbone development strategy, strategically positions green hydrogen production units near the future European hydrogen backbone. This approach ensures efficient delivery to a diverse customer base across regions.

Lubmin project

The Lubmin project chosen site, in close proximity to the German hydrogen backbone, provides access to significant existing and future electricity production capacities from offshore wind farms. The project benefits from an extra-high voltage grid connection operated by 50Hertz, ensuring ample electricity supply for hydrogen production.

Scheduled to be operational by 2029, the plant will boast an electrolysis capacity of 800 MW and a production capacity of up to 330 tons of green hydrogen per day.
