Sweden – Alfa Laval, a prominent engineering company, has unveiled its plans to establish a dedicated business unit named “Business Unit Electrolyzer and Fuel Cell Technologies.”
Over the last three years, Alfa Laval has been actively involved in the hydrogen market, breaking new ground with innovative products and solutions in the fields of electrolyzers and fuel cells. Recognizing the immense potential of hydrogen in the future energy landscape, Alfa Laval has taken a bold step by setting up this new business unit, with a mission to develop cutting-edge hydrogen applications in collaboration with industry leaders.
Innovation Center
In addition to establishing the new business unit, Alfa Laval is also announcing the construction of an “Innovation Center” focused on heat exchangers, fuel cells, and electrolyzer components. This center will be dedicated to research, development, and rigorous testing in these critical areas, both in terms of capability and speed.
Located at Alfa Laval’s headquarters in Lund, Sweden, where the company’s largest heat exchanger factory is situated, this investment is substantial, encompassing resources and cutting-edge equipment. The center will be at the forefront of driving innovation and fostering technological advances in green energy solutions.
To spearhead this ambitious venture, Madeleine Gilborne, currently the Head of Clean Technologies and Vice President of the Energy Division at Alfa Laval, will take on the role of President of the new business unit. The new business unit is scheduled to be officially established by January 1, 2024, and will operate as a vital part of the Energy Division.
