The Netherlands – The European Just Transition Fund (JTF) has awarded Zepp.solutions a grant of €1.98 million for the construction of a fuel cell systems plant.
The JTF, which aids in the transition to a Climate Neutral Europe, is aware of Zepp’s potential to foster innovation in the local economy and lessen the adverse effects of this shift on employment.
Zepp.solutions will be able to solidify its dominant position in Europe’s expanding hydrogen industry thanks to the factory, which will be located in the Greater-Rijnmond area.
Zepp.solutions seeks to hasten the energy transition and promote labor market resilience with the help of the Ministries of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK) and Social Affairs and Employment (SZW), as well as the municipalities in the Dutch Greater Rijnmond area.
Zepp’s Y50 and X150 fully integrated hydrogen fuel cell modules will be produced in the plant. These fuel cell modules convert hydrogen gas into useful high-voltage electric power that can be used to power vehicles, vessels, or other heavy machinery very effectively. The Rotterdam Watertaxi, construction excavators, and a 67-meter long inland transport vessel are all examples of current applications. Later this year, the first two semi-trucks with Zepp’s fuel cell systems will begin operating on public roadways.
Increased output
The plant will allow Zepp.solutions to increase their output to 1,000 systems annually, which will result in the creation of about 100 sustainable jobs in the local hydrogen industry. Zepp.solutions also makes a substantial contribution to the region’s goal of becoming the top European hydrogen hub by concentrating on the production of their zero-emission fuel cell systems.
