Norway – TECO 2030, a leading provider of sustainable technology solutions, has successfully completed the production of its first manual fuel cell stacks at its facility in Narvik.
These fuel cell stacks, specifically designed as 100kW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells, are a significant step towards achieving cleaner operations in energy-intensive industries such as marine shipping and heavy-duty applications.
Implenia Norway
One notable application of TECO 2030’s fuel cell stacks is the 800kW HydroPilot container by Implenia Norway, scheduled for operation by the end of 2023. This land-based stationary fuel cell system will provide renewable power output, demonstrating a zero-emission power generator at a construction site. The project is supported by ENOVA SF, a Norwegian state-owned funding company, with an approximate investment of EUR 1.5 million.
Following the production of Implenia’s container, TECO 2030’s Narvik team will shift its focus to the EU-funded Horizon Europe HyEkoTank project. This initiative aims to demonstrate the world’s first and largest 2.4 MW marine fuel cell system for a retrofit installation onboard a product tanker owned by Tarbit Shipping AB, chartered to a subsidiary of Shell.

TECO 2030’s fuel cell stacks, produced at the Innovation Center in Narvik, incorporate cutting-edge fuel cell technologies that optimize efficiency and durability. These fuel cell systems offer flexibility and can be tailored to meet the specific power requirements of various heavy applications. From maritime and transportation sectors to industrial applications, TECO 2030’s fuel cell technology can seamlessly integrate into diverse use cases.
To further expand its production capabilities, TECO 2030 is constructing Europe’s first gigafactory for hydrogen PEM fuel cell stacks and modules in Narvik, Norway. The facility aims to reach an output capacity of up to 120 MW of fuel cells in 2024, 400 MW in 2025, and an impressive 1.6 GW in 2030. TECO 2030 remains committed to its mission of reducing harmful emissions and achieving zero emissions in heavily polluting industries.
