Singapore – Linde, a global multinational chemical business founded in Germany, has inked a long-term arrangement to supply green hydrogen to Evonik, a major specialty chemicals manufacturer.
On Jurong Island in Singapore, Linde will construct, acquire, and run a nine megawatt alkaline electrolyzer plant. Green hydrogen will be created at the plant, which Evonik will use to create methionine, a crucial ingredient in animal feed. The new supply agreement will assist Evonik in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions in Singapore and will support the facility’s anticipated expansion.
Green hydrogen for neighbors
In addition to providing Evonik, Linde will use the Jurong Island electrolyzer facility to meet rising demand by delivering green hydrogen to the neighborhood merchant market. The new facility, which will be the largest electrolyzer ever installed in Singapore, is anticipated to start operating in 2024.
