Austria – Plansee and Linde signed a deal for a sustainable hydrogen supply for the Reutte facility; Linde Gas will run the critical facilities while the hydrogen required by Plansee and Ceratizit increasingly turns green.
Plansee needs a lot of hydrogen for production. Linde is in charge of the facility, which converts energy and water into hydrogen. The hydrogen electrolyser will be housed in an existing structure on the Plansee site in Breitenwang.
The electrolyser has a four megawatt output and can produce up to 800 cubic meters of hydrogen per hour with a purity of 99.999 percent. Power is needed for electrolysis, which can only be obtained from renewable resources. As a result, the hydrogen produced using this method is safe for the environment.
Covering hydrogen needs
The long-term agreement with Linde to supply the manufacturing site is intended to initially cover half of Plansee and Ceratizit’s hydrogen needs in Reutte.
Further significant initiatives to reduce the CO2 footprint include increasing tungsten recycling rates, increasing material efficiency, and powering all of the production facilities with renewable energy.
