The Netherlands – Vision Energy, based in the United States, says it is on schedule to file the detailed environmental impact assessment for its energy project in the North Sea Port of Vlissingen, the Netherlands, by January 31, 2023, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Evolution Terminals BV.
Evolution Terminals is constructing and delivering Northwestern Europe’s first import, storage, and handling terminal intended specifically for hydrogen carriers, renewable energy products, and low-carbon fuels on a 16.4 hectare site in the North Sea Port of Vlissingen.
The investment in Phase 1 of the development plan is anticipated to be EUR €450 million for up to 400,000 CBM of storage for green and low-carbon products and fuels. The project will comprise investments in a new deep-water jetty, quay wall renovation, and truck and rail loading facilities, with FID expected by the end of 2023.
The submission
The company is now completing the remaining studies required to support filing permit applications under the Dutch “WABO” process, with the first submission scheduled for December 31, 2022.
The submission contains an environmental permit application, followed by a construction permit application for the first stage of development.
Phase 2 and 3 plans include increasing storage capacity for low-carbon products and fuels, as well as integrating an Ammonia Cracking Facility to convert green ammonia to hydrogen.
