Finland – Preparations have started for the construction of Finland’s first industrial-scale green hydrogen and synthetic methane production plant, being built by P2X Solutions in the Harjavalta Industrial Park.
The plant will be ready for production by the summer of 2024 after construction work starts in the fall. P2X Solutions has received investment support for the project from the Finnish government in addition to funding for the plant’s construction from Finnish and foreign investors.
Finland’s CO2 emissions will drop by about 40,000 tonnes a year thanks to the 20 MW plant, and the heat and oxygen produced as byproducts can be used in industrial processes.
The project’s construction phase will have a direct and indirect employment impact of about 350 person-years. About 50 permanent jobs, including those associated directly or indirectly with the facility or its operations, are anticipated to be created once the project is complete.
The company intends to construct 1,000 MW of electrolysis capacity over the following ten years, and design work on additional plants has already started.
