South Korea – Hyundai Engineering is experimenting with recycling waste plastics to produce high-purity, clean hydrogen.
Waste plastics will be used to construct a high-purity clean hydrogen production plant for the company in Dangjin.
According to Hyundai Engineering, full-scale commercial production will begin in 2024, with ground breaking expected in the first half of 2019.
Pyrolysis and gasification of waste plastics will be used to produce hydrogen for hydrogen electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cells, and hydrogen-LNG co-firing power generation.
