Germany – MAHLE and Siemens have signed a letter of intent to collaborate on wireless charging systems for electric vehicles.
Both businesses will work together in the future to develop and test comprehensive infrastructure and automotive engineering systems. The promotion of technological standards for inductive charging technology will be one of the areas of focus.
In recent years, MAHLE has intensified its research and development efforts in the area of wireless charging. Included in this are two initiatives supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK): A cross-manufacturer inductive charging system for vehicles is one project’s goal. A standardized measurement technique for the electromagnetic compatibility of inductive systems is being developed in the second project.
chargeBIG
The technology company already has a cable-based infrastructure product on the market called chargeBIG. This intelligent charging management system can be easily and quickly retrofitted into current infrastructure at a low cost. The system is intended for locations where electric vehicles are left parked for long periods of time, such as company parking lots, airports, or the underground parking ramps of substantial apartment buildings.
