United States/South Korea – PHA, a biodegradable alternative to traditional plastic, has been developed by Danimer Scientific, a leading next generation bioplastics company, and Hyundai Oilbank has signed a memorandum of understanding to develop new market opportunities and applications for the biopolymer.

Danimer’s Nodax PHA and other PHA-based compounds will be supplied to commercial customers in South Korea and other Asian markets in the near term for sustainable packaging and other applications. PHA manufacturing is expected to expand around the world over the long term.

Stephen E. Croskrey, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Danimer, said, “The environmental impact of plastic waste affects the entire planet, and it will take global cooperation to address this crisis.”
