Portugal – Nordsol, a Dutch company in the field of bio-LNG technology, and the French company Prodeval, active in biogas treatment, will jointly build a large bio-LNG plant in southern Portugal. The new plant will convert waste from olive oil production into biogas and then bio-LNG.
The new plant will be near a major olive oil producer, whose organic waste it will use to produce bio-LNG. The two parties plan to commission the new plant in early 2025. Bio-LNG is produced by liquefying biogas. It can be used as transport fuel or as fuel in industry.
The new plant will have a production capacity of 10 tons of bio-LNG and 21 tons of liquid CO2 per day. For this, it uses 1100 cubic meters of biogas per hour. This comes from wastewater from the olives.
