Belgium – Evonik has modernized the infrastructure at its site in Antwerp to increase the storage and transshipment capacity for its fertilizer products AgriLi and blueSulfate.
For these products, by-products of methionine production, two new storage tanks and an automatic loading station for tankers have been installed.
The two fertilizer products are manufactured in continuous production throughout the year. However, they are seasonal products. That is why the company decided to increase the storage capacity for the products. For the modernization of the infrastructure, Evonik concluded a leasing contract with Tanktransport Peeters, which has forty years of experience in the transport of these chemicals.
Phased development
In the first phase, existing tanks were replaced by two steel tanks weighing 175 tons each. For this purpose, a project team worked together in Hanau and Antwerp. The automatic charging station was recently installed. Thanks to automation, loading time has been shortened and safety improved.
The two new storage tanks are made of steel and have a capacity of 3,000 cubic meters each. The automatic loading station is well equipped to ensure safe and efficient loading of tankers.
