United States – Yosemite Clean Energy has secured a site near Oroville, California, for the development of its first carbon-negative green hydrogen and renewable natural gas (RNG) production plant, with groundbreaking slated for Q2 of 2022.
Yosemite is a sustainable biofuels firm committed to environmental care and the development of local forest and farm communities in order to democratize energy production.
Yosemite’s biofuels production facilities will use proven Austrian-based gasification technology, successfully commercialized and implemented by Christian Aichernig of Repotec, to produce carbon-negative green fuels on a commercial scale. Following over 100,000 hours of commercial run-time across developed plants in Europe, Japan, and South Korea, the Oroville plant will be the flagship dual-bed gasification facility in the Americas.
California has an estimated 35 million tons of waste woody biomass accessible each year, which is now being burned, decayed, and decomposed, generating massive volumes of greenhouse gases and black carbon. Yosemite will transform this biomass into syngas in a sustainable manner, from which carbon negative green hydrogen and RNG will be created utilizing downstream technology that is already commercially marketed in the United States. These carbon-negative fuels will help California meet its ambitious emission targets as it transitions to a carbon-neutral economy.
Farmers and forest landowners will own each Yosemite biofuels plant, in exchange for wood debris gathered at the end of the orchard’s existence or through sustainable forest management.
