Vopak is investing in the Port of Rotterdam for the disposal of waste based feedstocks for the manufacture of biofuels such as biodiesel and bio-jet fuel. The demand for renewable energy sources in Europe is on the rise, also as a result of the Renewable Energy Directive II of the European Union.

A total of 16 new tanks with a combined capacity of 64,000 cbm will be installed at Vopak Terminal Vlaardingen. Renewable feedstocks that can be placed in fresh tanks are discarded products, such as used cooking oil and tallow.

Already experienced

Vopak Terminal Vlaardingen already has considerable expertise in the storage of these kinds of goods. The terminal is geographically situated inside the Port of Rotterdam and is well connected to the logistics of boats, barges, trucks and trains.
