United Kingdom – Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) has called for the entire shipping industry at COP26 to embrace a net zero 2040 target, while also providing technical leadership in large shipping to support the target.
FFI’s Green Fleet Team is working quickly to convert the 75-meter vessel, the “MMA Leveque,” in collaboration with MMA Offshore Limited, to run almost entirely on green ammonia over the next 12 months.
This brings the shipping industry much closer to carbon neutrality before 2040, with only entrenched industry practices slowing global progress toward carbon neutral shipping.
The MMA Leveque will run on green fuel and will be part of Fortescue Metal Group’s larger fleet of trucks, locomotives, and ships that are all undergoing technical conversion to run on green fuels.
