Lhyfe, a pioneer in green hydrogen production, and Elyse Energy, a producer of low-carbon molecules, have partnered to develop e-methanol production from green hydrogen at the Nantes Saint-Nazaire Port. This initiative aims to decarbonize maritime transport, leveraging the industrial and logistics ecosystem of the Loire Estuary.
In November 2023, Lhyfe was selected as the winner of a call for expression of interest by the Nantes Saint-Nazaire port authority. The project involves setting up an industrial green hydrogen production and distribution operation at the Montoir-de-Bretagne site. Lhyfe and Elyse Energy have signed an exclusive agreement to conduct a technical, economic, financial, and regulatory feasibility study for producing e-methanol from green hydrogen at this location.
The implementation of the project will depend on the outcomes of the feasibility study, the granting of necessary operating licenses and building permits, and financial investment decisions.
E-methanol is identified as a clean fuel that can significantly contribute to decarbonizing maritime transport. This project represents a crucial industrial and technological effort to achieve carbon neutrality and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
