Belgium – INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe has inaugurated a new pilot line for the development of recyclable flexible packaging films at its R&D Center in Brussels. The construction of the plant involved an investment of several million euros.
The pilot plant can be used by customers to test new types of packaging films without having to use their own facilities and production capacity. Ineos has already set up collaborative projects to develop new films for a number of customers.
Many packaging films consist of blends of different types of polymers, making them difficult to recycle. Simpler films with the same performance make packaging materials easier to recycle. This is why Ineos is working with its customers to develop recyclable packaging films.
