The Netherlands – Vattenfall has made a strategic decision to participate in the Dutch IJmuiden Ver offshore wind tender.

Vattenfall’s bid for the Alpha and Beta sites of the IJmuiden Ver offshore wind tender aligns with its goal of accelerating the renewable transition of the Dutch energy system.

Alpha & Beta

Site Alpha emphasizes Vattenfall’s expertise in environmental conservation and biodiversity, drawing on insights gained from previous offshore wind projects such as the Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) wind farm. With a focus on marine and bird life protection, Vattenfall is poised to meet the stringent environmental standards set for the Alpha site.

For the Beta site, Vattenfall has partnered with a consortium to prioritize system integration targets, ensuring seamless integration with the existing energy infrastructure. This collaborative approach underscores Vattenfall’s commitment to fostering innovation and driving progress in renewable energy technology.

Zeevonk

With a combined capacity of 4 GW across sites Alpha and Beta, the electricity generated could power approximately 4 million Dutch households, contributing to a substantial reduction in carbon emissions and promoting energy independence.

The bid registered under the name ‘Zeevonk,’ meaning ‘sea sparkle’ in Dutch, encapsulates the essence of Vattenfall’s approach – marrying environmental conservation with technological innovation.
