United States – Linde and OCI N.V. have created a long-term cooperation in which Linde will supply clean hydrogen and nitrogen to OCI’s new blue ammonia facility under construction in Beaumont, Texas.
Linde’s overall expenditure will be roughly $1.8 billion, while OCI’s total investment will be less than $1 billion, including spending on upgraded infrastructure and accessible land to enable for future expansion to 2.2 mtpa capacity. The project is scheduled to begin in 2025.
Linde clean hydrogen
Linde will construct, own, and manage a complex on-site that will comprise autothermal reforming with carbon capture as well as a major air separation plant. Linde’s large Gulf Coast industrial gas infrastructure will be integrated into the new facility. It will provide clean hydrogen and nitrogen to OCI’s 1.1 million ton per year blue ammonia factory, which will be the first of its kind in the United States.
Linde will provide clean hydrogen to OCI by sequestering more than 1.7 million metric tons of CO2 emissions each year. OCI will convert the hydrogen to make blue ammonia, allowing OCI to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of its downstream customers across a wide range of industries.
