France – A network of hydrogen fueling stations targeted at heavy-duty vehicles will be built by a joint venture with equal ownership by TotalEnergies and Air Liquide along major European highways.
This program will assist in easing access to hydrogen, facilitating the growth of its usage in the transportation of commodities, and bolstering the hydrogen industry.
In the upcoming years, the partners hope to install more than 100 hydrogen stations along busy European highways in Germany, France, and the Benelux. These TotalEnergies-branded stations will be positioned along important strategic thoroughfares.
Decarbonizing road transportation
This deal will help decarbonize road transportation in Europe and result in the emergence of a significant player in hydrogen refueling technologies. The two businesses will pool their knowledge and skills in transportation, hydrogen distribution, and infrastructure:
Air Liquide will contribute with its technological know-how and command of the full hydrogen value chain, while TotalEnergies will lend its knowledge in the administration and maintenance of station networks and the distribution of energies to BtoB customers.
Joint venture launch
These stations will be purchased, built, and operated by the joint venture, which TotalEnergies and Air Liquide will jointly manage. The joint venture will also invest in, buy hydrogen from the market, and distribute it to its transportation customers.
Subject to the completion of the requisite contractual agreement and the obtaining of the required governmental approvals, the two partners intend to launch their joint venture in 2023.
