Sweden – Vattenfall will next week open its largest ever land-based wind farm, the Blakliden Fäbodberget in Sweden, with 84 turbines.
Blakliden Fäbodberget, located in the municipalities of Lycksele and Åsele, began construction in 2018 and is now ready for operation. The areas for the wind farm are Blakliden with 50 wind turbines in Åsele municipality and Fäbodberget with 34 wind turbines, north of Fredrika in Åsele and Lycksele municipalities.
Fossil-free electricity
The wind farm has been under construction since 2018. The construction contract was awarded in November 2020, and the 84 turbines were installed during the summer of 2021.
The farm, which is owned by Vattenfall, Vestas, and AIP Management, has a total capacity of 353 MW and will provide fossil-free electricity to approximately 220,000 homes.
