The Netherlands – Ballast Nedam has chosen the CAPE VLT-320 to install flanged monopiles at the Maasvlakte 2 soft sea wall near the Dutch coast.
The Windpark Maasvlakte 2’s 12 turbines will be supported by 300-ton monopiles with a diameter of 5 meters. By upending and driving the piles from a temporary beach platform, the CAPE VLT will be used by Ballast Nedam. The piles will be driven to the point of final penetration using an impact hammer. The installation should be completed in the second quarter of 2022.
Clean energy
Eneco’s second wind farm, Maasvlakte 2, is scheduled to begin producing more than 400 GWh of clean energy in 2023. As early as 2023, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management plans to be energy neutral by purchasing all of its own power for a period of 25 years.
