The Netherlands – The Wind Osprey vessel has departed Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte port carrying the world’s largest commercial turbines, which will be installed on the Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm.

The Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm zone will be equipped with approximately 140 units of Siemens Gamesa’s newest and largest Direct Drive offshore turbines, with a capacity of up to 11 MW. Siemens Gamesa’s new 11MW turbines have a rotor diameter of 200 meters and a total height of 225 meters from sea level to the top of the blade.

Vattenfall will enlist Cadeler’s help in transporting, lifting, and installing 140 of these giga-scale offshore wind turbines.

Hollandse Kust Zuid

Together with its partner BASF, Vattenfall is constructing Hollandse Kust Zuid. The wind farm will be roughly 18 kilometers off the coasts of The Hague and Zandvoort. When completed, Hollandse Kust Zuid will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm. The 140 turbines have a 1.5 Gigawatt total installed capacity.
