Norway – For the upcoming licensing rounds in Norway, Vattenfall and Seagust have formed a joint venture to compete for offshore wind areas.
Vattenfall’s first foray into the Norwegian wind market is represented by this joint venture.
Bidding on North Sea
Both the Utsira Nord and Sørlige Nordsjø II areas in the North Sea will be targeted by the joint venture. This year, the Norwegian government announced a goal of building as much as 4GW from both floating and bottom-fixed wind turbines, with the first licensing rounds expected in 2022.
Helene Biström Head of BA Wind Vattenfall said: “Norway is an attractive market to us with huge wind resources and we are delighted to see the growing support from the Norwegian government.”
