The Netherlands – SSE Renewables intends to submit a bid in a tender for the 1.4GW Hollandse Kust (west) Wind Farm Zone in the Netherlands, scheduled for the first half of 2022 .
On December 23, 2021, the Dutch Government issued revised draft Ministerial Orders that included tender assessment criteria for the permits to develop the two individual 700MW sites within the Zone. On or before April 14, 2022, a window for tender submissions will open, and on or before May 12, 2022, the winners will be announced.
Half of the points-based system for successful bidders is allocated to this category in the two tenders, which have a clear focus on innovation. With this approach, SSE Renewables is eager to put its ecological expertise to use in developing innovative solutions for both current and future challenges in the Dutch offshore wind sector and elsewhere.
Various markets
With more offshore wind being built by SSE Renewables than any other company in the world, they are leading the industry in both the UK and Ireland. While it has recently entered the Japanese offshore wind market, they are actively looking for new ways to export their extensive offshore wind capabilities around the world. Renewable energy sources in Poland, Portugal, Spain, and the United States are all being examined by SSE Renewables.
Net Zero Acceleration Program
Net Zero Acceleration Program of SSE, which included fully funded £12.5 billion strategic capital investment plans to 2026, as well as ambitious 2031 targets, aligned with 1.5 degree science-based targets, if the Hollandse Kust (west) Projects were successful. In the five years leading up to 2026, installed renewable energy capacity is expected to increase by 4GW (net), bringing the total to 8GW (net). The new 2031 targets include a fivefold increase in renewables output to 50TWh, a sustained renewables pipeline in excess of 15GW, and a trebling of SSE’s owned renewable capacity to over 13GW (net) from c.4GW today. These targets will be met if SSE Renewables is successful in the tenders for the Hollandse Kust (west) Projects, which are expected to be commissioned in 2025-2026.
