Ireland – The Ballykeel onshore wind farm in Northern Ireland has received final investment decision (FID) from Ørsted.
North-easterly in the Antrim region, the wind farm will produce 16 megawatts.
Amazon has signed a long-term fixed-price corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Ørsted to purchase all of the wind farm’s output, which was announced in December of last year. Ørsted will offtake all of the wind farm’s output beginning in June of 2021. For the first time in Northern Ireland, a CPPA has been agreed to.
Ørsted Onshore expects the wind farm to be operational in 2023, bringing the company’s total capacity in Ireland to 372 MW in operation and under construction. Brookfield Renewable Ireland was acquired by Ørsted Onshore in April 2021, and the company has stated that it is always looking for new European markets in which to expand its operations.
