The Netherlands/France – Vestas has received orders for two new wind turbines in the Netherlands and France.

Vestas has received a 116 MW order from Eneco for the Windpark Maasvlakte 2 project in the Netherlands. The order includes the supply and installation of 13 V162-6.0 MW turbines and nine V117-4.2 MW turbines in 4.3 MW operating mode for the wind farm Eneco is building on the outer edge of Maasvlakte 2 in the Port of Rotterdam, by order of Rijkswaterstaat, the Netherlands’ Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management.

The 22 wind turbines will generate 416 GWh of green electricity per year, which is enough to power approximately 152,000 homes. In practice, the energy generated will help the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management achieve energy neutrality. This adds to the more than 3 GW of Vestas turbines already installed in the Netherlands.

The project is complex because turbines will be installed on both the ‘hard’ and’soft’ sea defences surrounding the industrial harbour of Maasvlakte 2, and close collaboration among all stakeholders has proven critical to the project’s success. Vestas will install EnVentus turbines with monopile foundations on the sport beach for the soft part of sea defense, and the rest of the turbines will be installed on the dike infrastructure.

Vestas will service the project through a long-term Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement, ensuring power performance certainty and Vestas’ industry-leading service expertise throughout the project’s lifetime. Vestas expects the first turbines to be delivered in the second quarter of 2022 and to be operational by the end of the year.

Furthermore, H2air has placed an order for three projects totaling 80 MW in France. The Ardennes I wind park, which will be located in Grand-Est, will include 12 wind turbines with V150 rotors from the 4 MW platform. The Somme I and Aisne I wind parks, which will be built in Hauts de France, will feature eleven wind turbines with V126 rotors from the 4 MW platform. The supply and installation order includes a 20-year service agreement for Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000).

The delivery of turbines at Ardennes I is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022, with commissioning scheduled for the first quarter of 2023. The delivery and commissioning of turbines at Somme I and Aisne I are scheduled for 2022.
