FranceDORIS and Lhyfe have decided to become official partners to accelerate their work on offshore hydrogen production after a 12-month joint R&D program focused on developing economically viable offshore green hydrogen production solutions.

They intend to work together to launch the first floating wind turbine for integration with a hydrogen production system, as well as identify larger-scale opportunities for their solutions.

DORIS and Lhyfe have agreed to collaborate under this agreement in order to combine their outstanding technical innovations and excellence in their respective fields of expertise, while also fostering a relationship of mutual trust and understanding.

The two companies signed the MoU just a few weeks after Lhyfe’s Bouin production site in VendĆ©e began producing the first few hundreds kilos per day of carbon-free green hydrogen. The operational knowledge gained in this world will first be used to complete the development of DORIS’ and Lhyfe’s proprietary solution Nerehyd. This unique product combines Lhyfe’s expertise in green renewable hydrogen production with DORIS’ Nerewind floating wind turbine solution. The Nerehyd solution, which incorporates a hydrogen production facility into a wind turbine’s floater, could be deployed for on-grid or off-grid applications ranging from small-scale 10-megawatt wind turbines to large-scale wind farms with hundreds of megawatts of capacity.

The project’s budget will be in the region of 60 million euros, including R&D and the production of the first prototype, which is scheduled for 2025.
